THE IMPORTANCE OF EXERCISE

Physical fitness has a myriad of health benefits. By exercising frequently, one can see great improvement in his / her overall well-being. Some of these benefits include (but are not limited to):

  • Reducing risk of diseases
  • Reducing chronic illnesses
  • Improving heart and mental functions
  • Increasing fat loss
  • Increasing energy
  • Strengthening bones, tissues, and muscles
  • Increasing nutrient absorption
  • Boosting immune system
  • Improving digestive functions
  • Reducing aging process

THE IMPORTANCE OF PROPER FORM

Having proper movement when performing any kind of physical training is vital to one’s health. When performing repetitive movements, the stresses (or loads) will affect the body. When they are done incorrectly, the stresses or loads may cause injuries, which is detrimental to one’s health and progress. Some of these injuries can result in muscle sprains, strains, bone fractures, and dislocations, which can lead to weeks, if not months, to recover. Therefore, injury prevention should be a part of any training regimen.

THE IMPORTANCE OF PROPER TECHNIQUE

Proper technique (as opposed to proper form) is also important in order to target muscles effectively. This may mean using a different grip (pronated vs. supinated), different hand or feet spacing (close-grip, neutral-grip, wide-grip), different positions (standing, sitting, laying down), different ranges of motion, isolation (single-arm, single-leg), and adjusting levels of incline. When one can visualize the correct muscle fibers that should be activated, a mind-body connection is established. Knowing when to utilize each variation would lead to optimal progress and quicker results.

THE IMPORTANCE OF AVOIDING INJURY

Getting injured while exercising can prove to be quite costly. If the injuries are more severe, medical bills, therapy, and rehabilitation costs can add up. It can take a toll not just financially and physically, but also emotionally too. It may be tough to get back to the initial starting place. And even when the particular injury has healed, other muscles and tissues may have had to compensate during the process, possibly leading to muscle imbalances and chronic pain down the road.

THE IMPORTANCE OF VARIETY

Doing the same activities or performing the same movements over and over again can feel cumbersome. That’s why having an assortment of exercises and workout plans available to choose from can make it more fun. Variety promotes adherence to any training program and ensures consistency and long-term progress.
